Man, I love this kid.
Flash is Fast! (click on link)
Flash IS fast. And so is time it seems. I can’t believe it’s already been four years. Where has the time gone?
Though he drives me crazy sometimes, it is the very best kind of crazy.
And I love my Numero Uno with all of my heart…and more and more each day.
Even when he “accidentally” pocked a toy at Party City yesterday afternoon and did not unveil his treasure from his coat pocket until late last night.
Ironically, he stole a bag of fake money.
Who knew he was a pirate?
We saw this as an opportunity to “parent” and I took him back to Party City today to return the booty and apologize. I don’t think he actually knew what he was doing when he did it but it was a chance to teach him about right and wrong and the value of honesty. He did get a round of applause from everyone in the store when he made his confession and handed the stolen goods back to the store clerk.
The best part was that it was crazy hair day at his school, so he already looked like a punk.
It was a sweet and proud moment and one of our first “big boy” experiences.
Not so sweet and proud was when he tried to push Crosby (in his Johnny Jumper in the doorway) so high so that he could run underneath him, or, alternatively, in the car when he screamed at me that I was a bad influence (huh?).
But we will take what we can get.
Cal turned the big FOUR-OH MY! last week and in honor of this special occasion, multiple events were in order. I mean, come on, you only turn four once. He requested dinosaurs, rocks, elevators, dark blue spiders and to play golf and go to the beach in Florida (although I think that Dad is projecting).
Or, in the alternative, chocolate milk, chocolate cake, and chocolate suckers.
Who says no to the Birthday Boy?
He celebrated with his buddies with a little gymnastics followed by a lot of sugar.
The VERY best part of his birthday party was a special visit from his favorite super hero, Spider-Man.
Spider-Man might be Cal’s favorite super hero, but Uncle Adam might be mine. Best. Birthday. Gift. Ever.
Sweet Baby Cal. You changed my life four years ago for not only the better, but for the best. Thank you for helping me remember to be patient and kind. And to always remember my sense of humor and not to take myself so seriously.
And thank you for helping me remember the wonder and awe in every single day.
You are, without a doubt, the coolest kid I know. I love you.
K
